Amiga 1000 still in use after 30 years

Seems like I am not the only one who appreciates old computers. I came across this article on Gizmodo.com earlier today.

Although the text does not mention the exact model, there is a clue that this must be an A1000: They say that the school purchased it in 1985. At this point in time, the Amiga 1000 was the only model of the Amiga line available to buy.

Personally, I hope that they let the system retire soon. These machines were not designed for continuous operation over extended periods of time as they tend to get pretty warm after a few hours not to mention years. And they should not throw that computer away as these systems are becoming rare, collectible and not to mention: valuable.

Update

As the RCR-Podcast mentioned: Its actually an Amiga 2000. Seems they have upgraded at some point :-). There also is a short video report of a local TV station showing the computer in action.
